This is EmilyC. I haven’t blogged at all since my first introductory entry… (When was that? A few months ago? I can’t remember, which isn’t surprising.) When I tried to log on today to blog, I couldn’t sign on because I forgot my password. :-O Just my luck, I thought. Thankfully, Dea was able to help me out by working her magic–Dea’s got magic. LOL! Anyway, I’m here now and that’s all that matters…. (Like, nothing else matters. LOL.)
I’ve been on SL since late August 2007, which hasn’t been an awfully long time compared to some people, but I’ve learned quite a few things. And I don’t mind sharing. So here are a few advices inexperienced fashionistas or potential fashionistas can benefit from.
1) Sometimes SL screws up and you fail to receive the item(s) you purchased. When this happens, don’t PANIC and don’t purchase the item(s) again, unless you’re incredibly rich and don’t mind spending twice as much for your purchase. Instead, send a notecard to the designer describing what happened. Be sure to include your purchase’s transaction number in the notecard, too, so the designer has proof that you made the purchase. To get your purchase transaction number, go to your account on secondlife.com, check your transaction history. Most designers will understand and resend the item(s) to you. Sometimes designers’ profile will defer you to one of their employees for your transaction trouble. The process isn’t difficult, so don’t cry about your lost…. Getting customer service is the key. And if you never get an answer from the designer, I would advise you not to purchase anything from him/her again until you get the item(s) you purchased.
2) Most real life supermodels don’t have fat butts (LOL), so I almost never wear inworld skirts for this reason. If an outfit includes inworld skirts, I almost never make the purchase. Instead, I prefer skirts constructed with prims. Skirts with prims not only have movement, but they are more slimming. When asked to wear inworld skirts in fashion shows, I decrease the size of my butt and my hips. This works to some extent because inworld skirts form around the shape of your butt and hips. And oh yeah!!!! Unless you wish to flash a little somethin’ somethin’, always make sure that outfits with an inworld skirt include underwear. Always wear underwear with inworld skirts, because you can never know who will move their camera under your skirt!!!
3) If you have not already figure this out, always make a copy of a prim you want to modify. Because, if you don’t, you are doomed doomed doomed when you mess up! LOL.
4) A messy inventory is like a messy closet. You won’t be able to find anything if you don’t sort it out. Create folders and sort your items that way.
That’s all for the day.
Ciao and happy shopping!
