Hello again everyone:) Today.. MM skins:)

Posted on July 7th, 2008 in Barbarella Fuosing by Barbarella Fuosing

It has been sometime since I posted.

I was.. and still am in a quandry over MMskins.. I was not sure if it would be ethically correct to buy after the recent events. However, with trepidation I went to the store and picked up the demos. To be honest I expected to hate the skins. Ever since Gen 3 I have not been a lover of MMskins.

Are the skins great? Well if I am honest - no. They are good… and I love the makeups for modelling. The lips are good. The nose is pretty average. The ass (always important, lol) is good. What I find them lacking is detail. Compare them to the latest Redgrave skins and they fail.. but not many skins do compare very favourably Redgrave IMO.

Each skin gives 3 versions.. with different coloured eyebrows. I like the blonde eyebrows - they are different and give an entirely different look to the face.

Recently I have been using the Redgrave latest skins - which I adore. I have always liked Redgrave skins, but even the pale ones have not been light enough for me. Thankfully, the latest ones are. I will continue to wear the Redgrave and RAC for everyday use (and modelling) but I do hope to be able to use the MMzero skins for catwalk shows.

In case these do not show here is a link to my flikr where you can see more of the skins:)

Modavia Presents “An Italian Affair - The Love Affair with Fashion”

Top Italian Designer Ziamela Loon of Jador Showcases her Fabulous Fashions in a Stunning and Unforgettable Show

Second Life….June 10, 2008…. Modavia will present “An Italian Affair - The Love Affair with Fashion” on Saturday, June 14th at 3 pm SLT. The show will be held in an amazing venue specifically built and created to reflect the timeless beauty of Italy and to showcase the amazing work of Jador designer Ziamela Loon.

Modavia’s Senior Producer Fortunate Szondi has combined a beautiful build, amazing audio, one of SL’s top announcers and of course the top Modavia SuperModels and Models in order to present the 36 designs that will be shown on Saturday. Ziamela delivered the designs last week and as Fortunate began to unpack the boxes an abundance of “oohs” and “ahhs” could be heard. When asked about the designs Fortunate commented “I was completely amazed at both the number of designs provided as well as the diversity of Ziamel’s designs. The designs are classic, yet modern - beautiful and stunning and I am honored to be working with such a talented designer.”

Modavia chose to center the theme of the show around Italy, which is Ziamela’s home. The influence of the fashion mecca of Milan is evident in Ziamela’s designs. Just like the famous Italian city, the designs are modern and edgy while still maintaining a classic beauty and style that is so difficult for many designers to capture. In order to highlight these influences a custom set was created for the show. “Just when I think I’ve seen the most amazing builds and backdrops available, something new comes along and amazes me. It’s the beauty of Second Life! We can create the exact environment to highlight the beauty of the designs and textures. From landscaping to lighting, from oceans to mountains - whatever is needed to provide the perfect setting is available! I am again amazed by the work of my team in creating a setting that will amaze the audience and add to the stunning presentation of the Jador designs” were the feelings expressed by Modavia CEO, Dea Mills.

A signature of Modavia’s shows is the unusual and fresh approach. An approach that engages guests and dramatizes the genius of the designers. Although it may happen one day, Modavia has yet to produce a show with a traditional catwalk, choosing instead to allow the models and the audience to interact on a more intimate level. This allows the guests to feel as though they are a part of the production and also offers the ability to see the remarkable detailing in the featured designs. In addition to the more intimate show, guests will also be able to get up-close and personal with a few of the Modavia Models as they model the designs at the after party at Bellagio Second Life’s amazing club caramel.

As many know, the Bellagio hotel was inspired by the Lake Como resort of Bellagio in Italy so it was the natural choice for a party inspired by an Italian designer. The party will feature selected Modavia Models and SuperModels wearing a few of the featured designs as well as the phenomenal DJ Kromus to fuel your listening and dancing pleasure! The featured designs will be available for purchase as always and although we aren’t certain rumors of an absolutely fabulous gift bag have been circulating.

WOW what a good few days I have had:)

Posted on June 2nd, 2008 in Barbarella Fuosing by Barbarella Fuosing

Unfortunately I do not have any pics just yet.. but will post some when I get them..

On Friday last, I was  Producer for the first time. It was for DreamGirls -  DG Models and the designer was MissPure Voom of the renowned store WOOT. It was not an auspicious start as SL closed 30 mins before the show *sighs*. We had one model missing, unable to log in and the designer. People were talking about postponing the show.. but do we at Modavia let SL beat us? Do we heck.

SL opened 2 mins before we were due to start.. so we delayed the start til 12.30. Miracle of miracles - everything went superbly. The attachment Gods were kind to us and lag was no worse than the usual treacle;-)

Lisa of DG was so pleased with the show she offered me the permanent postion of Model Producer for DG which I was more than happy to accept. Zhao shoes will be our next show. Can’t wait.

Later the same evening I attended the casting for Miss SL Universe 2009. I was lucky enough to be one of the May finalists.. Needless to say I am over the moon:)

On Sunday I walked in a charity catwalk show run by Keely also of Modavia. I am sure this will be blogged as it was a massive success.

After, that is. SL closed 30 mins before the show (is this me? do they only do this when I am in a show? lol). The attachment Gods were not so kind to us this time with many models having severe problems getting changed. However - somehow, we pulled it off:)

Over 310,000 Lindens were raised on the day with one dress reaching a staggering 55,000 lindens. *WOW*. Well done Keey - you did a fantastic job:-)

The Amazingness of Rfyre strikes again…..

Well this post has been a long time coming for me, but I finally got there in the end, with a little help from a couple of friends of mine.

After talking to the amazing Rfyre designer Raven Pennyfeather a couple weeks ago she told me of this jacket she had in the works which she assured me would impress me. Knowing her ability, I had little reason to doubt her claims and upon seeing the Durante outfit for the first time, I learned rather quickly to never dispute a word she says. To quote Raven herself when describing the Durante outfit:

“”Durante is a Medieval personal name derived from the Latin verb ‘durare,’ which means ‘to last or endure.’ These new clothes bear that name because it captures the spirit of RFyre”

I spent a long time camming and absorbing the texturing into my brain as I was wearing an outfit that was probably one of the most versatile of any of Raven’s creations to date. The jacket was my favorite part of the ensemble, as I knew immediately that it would suit any combination of clothes I could throw at it (with the exception of a pink thong I caught fishing) however the pants and shirt were good enough to stand out on their own merits as well. As always Raven’s texturing is 1st rate and the Durante outfit is no exception. The Durante featured in these pics is the Noir version, however it is available in Earth and Crimson tones for Men and Women as well. For my little photoshoot to display the Durante outfit, I called upon someone I know is an Rfyre devotee, my friend Alexa Trefoil.

For this shoot, i asked Alexa to wear another one of the recent Rfyre creations, the Rfyre Black Dahlia dress. To illustrate the black Dahila is best to reference the release notes themselves, as they describe more about how great this outfit is, especially when coupled with the specially made boots that accompany this release made by my good friend Melanie Zhao of ZHAO shoes.

“Consider the Black Dahlia–a flower by any other name would not be as powerful, sexy, or beautiful. Dark, bold, exotic, the Black Dahlia was made for special women. Raven Pennyfeather showed the dress to her friend Melanie Zhao of Zhao Shoes. Melanie saw the dress and immediately knew it was meant for women like herself and Raven. Raven gave her a swatch of fabric from the skirt, and Melanie made the most beautiful boots with bows to match.”

Anyway to personally describe this outfit is to say that I love it. It looks amazing and is the perfect dress to compliment the Rfyre Eminence Mens suit. The boots are the perfect accessory to match this outfit, and they are great paired with all number of other outfits (as evidenced by my many friends who have been wearing these boots recently). Anyway enough talk from me about it, look at these pics that show how great these 2 outfits really are!

Even after knowing I was going to blog these 2 wonderful outfits, I saw a notice pop up yesterday about another Rfyre new release! The Ondami outfit for women! I have to commend Raven with the frequency with which she is able to release products of such high quality and attention to detail, and I just knew that this new release was destined to be blogged. So after an IM to none other than Modavia CEO Dea Mills (and waiting patiently for her to tp) I pinched her to model this new release for me at the 1001 nights sim.

This outfit also comes with 2 snake accessories that are held in the hands.

Now this outfit was a different style altogether and to explain the inspiration behind it I can quote the release notes:

“A lovely lady came to visit Raven one afternoon. “I have taken an interest in Minoan culture. The society was very egalitarian, with women sharing equal status with men. In fact, it was a matriarchal society.” Raven and I looked at the photos of Minoan women and Raven was inspired.

In Minoan culture, women wore robes that were open to the navel, leaving their breasts exposed, and had short sleeves and layered flounced skirts. Women also had the option of wearing a strapless fitted bodice, the first fitted garments known in history. The patterns on clothes emphasized symmetrical geometric designs.

Raven and I both agreed that the outfits would be perfect for women who wanted to adopt the exposed Minoan style, for RP or for their own fashion statement. But we also agreed that the sumptuous fabrics would make ideal dresses for any woman interested in being on the cutting edge of fashion.

So as you can see, this outfit perfectly meshes with RP scenarios and the high detail wouldn’t be out of place on a high fashion catwalk. The level of texture detail is astounding as we all have come to expect from the House of Rfyre and the Minoan dress is no exception. This is the redgold version featured, however it is also available in black/red, blue/gold, blue/silver, and black/silver versions.

All I can say to sum up this post is that if your inventory is bare of an outfit from the House of Rfyre you seriously need some in it. As with the release of the Durante, it goes to show that Rfyre is not only intended for RP sims but for a wider audience. Do yourself a favour and go and check it out today!! The mainstore is also amazingly detailed and is definitely worth a look if you have never been before.

Hi everyone.. this is a test post.. to introduce myself:-)

Posted on April 29th, 2008 in Barbarella Fuosing by Barbarella Fuosing

Nicho and me for Modavia fashion directoryHi all.. let me introduce myself.. I am Barbarella Fuosing.. she of the white hair:-)

Let me tell you a little about myself.. I am from UK.. a small place called London;-) but no.. I do not have a cockney accent..

I have been in SL about 20 months. As well as being a model, I also host Slingo at a very popular island. I am also estate manager there.

I have done a fair few catwalk shows.. amongst them - Callie Cline, Rfyre, Zhao, Storm shoes, Insolence, Barerose.. too many to list here.

Currently I am a model for: Boulevard, Indyra’s Originals (some exciting things coming up there.. stay tuned to find out more), DreamGirls (I am also helping to run shows for DG), SWAN, Callie Cline and not forgetting of course.. the ultimate.. Modavia Supermodels.

I was Project Manager for Modavia for BiancaF skins events.. which I also modelled in. I was lucky enough to be selected to feature in Modavia’s Designer’s brief. I have also been selected to be one of the models to be photographed and featured in Indyra Originals brand new upcoming store. Some exciting stuff coming up - stay tuned to find out more over the coming weeks.

I adore modelling.. all aspects of it.. catwalk shows are always a challenge - but a challenge I love. Lag (unavoidable during catwalk shows) is a trial.. attachments not attaching.. TPing home and praying you get back for your next walk.. I love it.. it’s a challenge that I feed on:-)

Photographic modelling is always fun.. with rarely any lag problems and time to chat and laugh with the photographer.

So what do I do when not hosting or modelling.. or preparing for modelling? Why shopping of course! I love shopping.. I love to find the best SL has to offer.. be it clothes, skins, hair or things for my home.. oh and animals.. I have many at home from an elephant to aquatic animals like whales, sharks, dolphins etc.

If I am not busy shopping or hosting or modelling.. I love to PARTYYYYYYY :-)

OK well I think I will leave it for there for today and report more next week.

I will attempt to upload a pic or two.. but I am blonde.. :-)

Ah getting all sorts of error messages when I try to upload a pic.. so will try to add that later, sorry:-(

It looks effortless? Then we have done our jobs!

Posted on March 20th, 2008 in Modavia Supermodels, Risa Bright by Risa Bright

risa-pheobe-mad-a.jpgRunway shows are a delight to attend. The sim where the show is held begins to fill early with the press, fashion designers and models who enjoy seeing their peers in action on the catwalk. There is a palpable excitement in the air…as real life as any SecondLife experience can be.

To the audience in attendance, the mechanics of the runway show may seem elementary- models put on an outfit. walk , pose, turn, pose, walk then exit. Simple, right?

Au contraire!

If the show you are viewing appears effortless, then you can be sure a great deal of work and professional experience has gone into that event to give the illusion of effortless execution.

Runway shows begin with the designer’s desire to showcase their creations in a runway event setting. From that first contact with the designer comes the initial discussion of the theme of their collection. Is it swimwear, formal gowns, casual dresses, a mix? The designer’s overall theme and unifying motif is used to create and design a set that is unique for their show and congruent with their collection.

The next few meetings with the designers are discussions of which pieces will be included in the show, how many outfits they wish to have walked down the runway — this will determine the number of models needed. Designers often have bodytypes or specific appearance parameters they want in their models. Many of them design with a specific shape in mind, and have their store photos done with a certain haircolor/style or other appearance details they would like to replicate on the runway. During these preliminary discussions, fitting times and dates are decided and set and any special requests the designers have are accomodated.

Next come the model castings. Group announcements are sent with the bodytype preferences stated by the designer, fitting times and show times.. and models appear at the castings to learn a bit about the show, the time commitment and to indicate their availability.

Once we have the number of models needed for the designer’s number of outfits, the next step is usually fittings. These are a very time consuming and important part of the runway event because this is where the designer makes real their vision for each creation they are showcasing. The models must modify body parts, hair styles and colors, eye colors, manicure colors. and any other bit of them that the designers want to achieve the look they desire. Models are asked to produce boots, shoes, and other accessories from their own inventories to complete the looks, or the designers will send them shopping to get the right shoes/boots to fit the specific needs of that outfit. Depending on the number of models, the number of modifications needed for each outfit, and the number of outfits, fittings can take anywhere from 2 to 5 hours. This is the the most important time spent in advance of the catwalk since all photos taken will be of these looks as determined during fittings. There are usually brief descriptions or outfit names the designers have for each featured ensemble and at this time I am given those bits to use in writing the script for the show which will include outfit descriptions in a narrative form. Script writing is labor- intensive and can take me up to 4 hours for a show that includes 20 outfits or more.

Often during the time we have all the models together, we are shown the runway walk.. where to stop and pose, and sometimes there are photos taken of us in our newly created outfits. All of these activities help us prepare for the actual runway event and are crucial to keeping us all “on the same page” with the same information.

Once the fittings are done, a rehearsal is needed to have everyone walk , pose and ask any clarifying questions they may have about pose times or whether certain poses are appropriate to the clothing they are featuring. We are very careful to choose poses that do not break the lines of the clothing or deform the prim.

The real key to a smooth-running runway event is the professional attitude of the models. When models are experienced and savvy, and can make outfits, modify their shapes cheerfully and willingly for the designers, attend all fittings and rehearsals and hit their marks consistently, it is an almost magical and extremely enjoyable experience! I have the very great fortune of working with some of  the most competent and professional models in the business. When everyone takes this job seriously and is focused on the details, it is a true delight!

The day of the show is the most exciting and adrenaline-inducing of all! Models are asked to be at the show site one hour early since sims are always full and laggy and waiting until the last minute can cause them to be locked out. We all gather backstage, dressed in our first outfits.. asking each other if our prims are rezzed .. camming out once in a while to gauge the gathering crowd. Excitement builds as we near show start time, line up in order… our poses and huds all primed and ready. Our RL notes-on-paper about the walk/pose times ready… its show time!

From the moment you are announced and you step out on to the runway, it is all business. Walking carefully to work around the sim lag, hit the mark… stop… pose… watch the clock for the pose time… pay attention to the announcer’s description, walk.. pose again… the crowd is all around.. sea of names floating .. many of them you recognise as press, modeling elite, and fashion celebrities. Talk about a rush! There is no more exciting place to be at that moment than modeling on that runway! When the commentator completes her posting of the outfit descriptions, you see “THANK YOU” and it is time to gracefully exit the catwalk Once you are backstage, there is barely time to savor that exciting walk, since you must change to your next outfit.. drag the folder (hope it rezzes) and if it doesn’t, hope there is time to wear each item individually..and pray that the Linden Labs gods are holding you in their favor that day!

After all the models have shown the creations, after the finale has been done, when we are all backstage again and the show is complete, the feeling of exhilaration is incomparable! Runway modeling is a rewarding and extremely enjoyable career that many of us are very passionate about.

So the next time you see a show, and think it is a bit of walking with some clothing changes, you will have some insight into the dozens of hours that went into set design and build, planning, fittings, rehearsals and fine adjustments to all the details that resulted in that “effortless” show.
