Casuals from Wynter Kidd

Okay it is a rainy day in real life so I feel like being casual and comfy in SL.  I love this look!  These shoes are so cute, I have like every color they come in.  The pants are from the wonderful Forda Fairlane.  They are part of a new outfit called Bayla, but I just mix and matched the shirt with a cute sweater from Callie Cline.  This sweater comes in several lengths.  I opted this time for the medium cut..it is my favorite.  I love these kinda of days where I can just dress down, but still look stylish.  I hope you like the look!  Hugs, Wynter

Shirt:  Forever Sweater Med (Cranberry) by Callie Cline

Pants:  Bayla Pants from Haute Style and Co.

Shoes:  Tomboy sneakies in black unlaced

Hair:  Ember-Black Brown from Deviant Kitties

One Foot Foward

Posted on July 31st, 2008 in EmilyC Carnell, Modavia Supermodels by EmilyC Carnell

Because the last blog entry was written weeks ago, I decided that it may as well be time for an update.  And who’s better to update the blog than I am?  LOL.  I’m only kidding–don’t hit me!  It’s 4:00AM, my time, eastern USA, so if you find typos, know that I’ve made them when I was weak-minded.

What am I still doing up at 4:00AM, you ask.  Well, I was shopping, asking Dea millions of questions, and trying to figure out which hair demos fit me best at Minnu.  Tonight was my first time trying on the new Minnu skins that were released weeks ago.  And I must say that they’re not as bad as many people have told me they are.  The Gen 2 skin collection, with the shiny, glimmering lips, still remains my favorite skins ever created by Minnu–I was saddened that Minnu retired the collection.  The Minnu Zero skins have much of the same shadings as the controversial Gen 4 collection, a collection that became the topic of many accusive and, perhaps, slanderous blogs.  In a recent interview with Minnu in the Best of SL magazine, Minnu has finally revealed her side of the story–that she has never been sued and that pulling both Gen 2 and Gen 4 was her decision and not due to a legal reasons.  Why has Minnu become the attack of blogs when it is obvious that so many other designers, perhaps, do the same thing as Minnu has–used sources from RL 3rd sites in the creation of their own skins?  A blog has compared the images of both her skins and the supposedly original skin that it claimed Minnu stole; perhaps the evidence was there for hers and not for the others.  But contrary to blog accusations, Minnu did not steal the file template-she used certain parts of the template in the creation of her skins.  It’s kind of hard to explain to anyone without the slightest idea of how skins could be created, but if you check out Minnu’s own blog, you’ll be able to find a statement by her own attorney.

When Minnu retracted her Gen 2 and Gen 4 after weeks of accusations and pressure from blogs and closed her store for the launch of her Zero skins, I had thought that, perhaps, Redgrave has already become the sensation that Minnu had once been.  In terms of popularity, has Redgrave skins become the new Minnu?  In my opinion, yes.  Redgrave has become very mainstream–I see a lot of people wearing them–even some Modavia models.  Redgrave skins have stronger, darker and more pixelate and radiant details than Minnu skins.  The shadings in Redgrave skins, especially in the face, are mostly done with lighting–so some of the Redgrave skin, when looked from afar, seem as if they are discolored from the face.  In terms of body details, I think Redgrave ties with Naughty Designs.  Redgrave skins are also less expensive, though not by much, than other leading brand name skins.  I still believe, however, that Minnu skins are best for modeling–the details are there and evident, yet they’re subtle and striking.  The tone and shading of Minnu skins seem more appropriate for photography to me.  There may be a lot of critics, but in my opinion, Minnu knows how to translate RL high fashion into SL.  She knows high fashion–and you can see this in her photography, in her magazine and profile picture.  But will people ever “forgive” Minnu in order to fully support and appreciate her work?  I don’t know.  I, too, like everyone else, believed half of everything blogs fed me, but what’s theft when the creations in question weren’t actually stolen?  What’s theft when it hasn’t been proven?  Why, as asked by Minnu herself, are people so eager to condemn without clear and distinct evidence, without hearing both sides of the story?

I had intended to visit Minnu when it had first reopened with the Zero line, but was bogged down by my preparation for the fashion show and after party that I was planning to celebrate the official launch of our new shapes at Beautify, Inc.  The fashion show was the first show that I had ever produced with my business partner.  We virtually started from scratch, with the information we knew from our own experience with modeling.  There were a lot of sleepless nights, mostly due to the deadline and many last minute decisions, such as moving to a new sim, building a venue, etc.  We had less than a week to pull off the show because it had taken us longer than we thought to secure a designer, especially during and after the 4th of July weekend.  We moved at the last minute due to drama with our neighboring stores.  I never expected so many obstacles to overcome in the production of the show.  The funny thing is that it was a two women show-my business partner and I were both able to pull off the show on our own, with little to no help from anyone else.  Hard work and a miracle.

For a first show, the show went relatively well, even if there were heckling from people next door.  The fashion show had conflicted with a neighboring launch party; while I had informed the owner next door about the shouting of our announcer days before the show, the warning seemed to have eluded her guests.  Drama aside, we had a good turn-out and slide-show pictures of the show and after party with DJ AZU can be found at the following link: http://flickr.com/photos/tillie/sets/72157606135354250/show/

The fashion expo featured shapes by Beautify and featured fashions by Amanda Bolero of the Bolero Collection, Avagardner and Barbra Kungler of Kunglers Designs, and Forda Fairlane and Moxie Polano of Haute Couture & Style.  All the designers were chosen for a reason-the quality and creativity of their designs spoke to us.

Okay, I’m finished with my rant?  Bored?  I thought so.  At least I was entertained. :-D

Wynter Kidd about Tuli

Posted on June 7th, 2008 in Modavia Supermodels, Wynter Kidd by Wynter Kidd

I love Tuli designs!  I think Tuli rocks and she is such a great person.  Today, I am going to showcase 2 of my favorite outfits from Tuli:  Ana Revamped in red and Leila-garden dress.  I love Tuli’s detail and her flaire to be different.  Tuli offers different layers and prims to her outfits.  Tuli also has a number of other things in her store…from skins to poses to shapes to hair.  Her store is located in the wonderful area of Le Zoo and in the middle of her store is a tree.  The atmoshere in her store also adds to the cozy feel of her designs.  The only thing I might add is that soon…you will need more room Tuli!  Hugs, Wynter

Come to the fashion show on Saturday, May 24th at 2pm SLT in the SL Illustrated sim and you will see for yourself the beauty that is Alba Rossini!!

SL Illustrated is made up of a bunch of great people, the CEO is Ted1 Kamachi, he owns the sim and he manages to keep us all on our toes. The COO is Ariel Lingiuan, she handles the day to day operations, keeps things running smoothly. Dadaist Gears is the SL Illustrated Magazine Editor and he does a wonderful job each month putting out a great magazine.
mshead_003.jpg Madison Sullivan is the Modeling Director for SLI Models, she has been a model in SL for about 1 1/2 years. She helps to organize fashion shows, holds modeling classes and helps the models with anything that they need. West Harlem

Posted on May 6th, 2008 in Modavia Supermodels by Keely LeFavre

In an attempt to switch things up a bit ( and alleviate boredom) my friends and I have began doing a series of “scenes” in which we will convey different moods and looks.  Mostly to see if we can but also because we can’t resist dressing up in front of the camera.   The photos in these groups wont have an introduction or anything. Just simple SL style and beauty along with a title, names of models, and outfit details.  Now, the lack of text is subject to change since I usually find it hard to shut the heck up.

The first photo of this series is called “West Harlem”. More because of the way we look than the way the set looks.  The lovely Abbie Reinard is modeling in black on the left and I’m in multicolor on the right.

A word to the wise…and Not So wise

Posted on May 5th, 2008 in Modavia Supermodels by HarMonica Aabye

Hello friends….I just wanted to take a minute and share my thoughts on the recent epidemic of “modeling agencies” in SL.   It seems like since January, there has been an explosion of agencies…and most of them seem to be preying on the innocent in hopes to part them from their hard earned Lindens. It has been brought to my attention that several agencies are asking and even requiring models to pay just for access to their groups, and then even more for unsolicited books, photos, etc.  If you take a look of some of those CEO’s, it will be quite clear that they are new models themselves.   To be a model in SL takes a lot of time, patience, research and investments.  You have to take the time to make yourself unique, most importantly.  People might think that it is simple, that any avatar can make it, however, that is far from the truth. Once you finally make yourself look fabulous, you then need to promote yourself and receive the necessary training.  Do not go to an agency, school, person who cannot back themselves.  They should be able to produce referrals, experience, etc., so that you can then research them yourself.  They might promise you the world, if you only give them 5k or whatever amount they might need.  True agencies in SL, are not easy to get into, and take more than just a good looking avatar to do so. There are many skills a Top Model in SL needs to possess, and you won’t learn them from any of these people. Please do yourself, and me, a favor….research who you want to be in SL….find out who is the best…ask them for advice….ask them how they did it….who they worked with….find an agency who actually produces models in High Fashion - Fashion Shows.  Any yahoo can put on a fashion show with mediocre clothing!  Just because XYZ Agency put on a show with undesirable clothing, unless you’re an escort in SL, doesn’t make them legitmate. That being said, I’m so glad you are part of Modavia and my friend.  I am always here for you, and always willing to help.  Good luck on your journey and be careful! ~Harmie HarMonica AabyeModavia Supermodel Modavia VP of ModelsModavia Fashion Direcory Liason/Coordinatorslharmonica@gmail.com

RUNWAY Magazine May 2008

Monday 28.04.08

This week as been truly remarkable for me and my career in SL! I kick started the week by ordering new parts for my custom built PC this will make my experience and performance in SL much more better and performance wise smoother. Hopefully the days of lag for me on the runway should be gone with the beast I have just built, which includes a overclocked Quad-Core Q6600 CPU @ 3.40Mhz and a 512Mb GeForce 8800GT Graphics Card & OCZ (Nvidia SLi Ready) DDR2 PC2-8500 1066Mhz 1GB X 2 Memory overclocked @ 1140Mhz!! So this was a birthday present for myself and I believe a very good one lol

Wednesday 30.04.08

So it was my RL birthday on Wednesday April 30th woooot Yeah 21 again !!! I had a great day thank you to all that attended my surprise birthday party I was totally surprised!! Maylee my girlfriend (I love you so much baby) planned my surprise party and designed the venue which I must add was fantastic !! Thank you to all that made this a surprise for me and made my birthday a memorable occasion “wow you guys gave me a great bash! Thank you!”

 Thursday 01.05.08

This was another fanastic day for me as I was selected by MOlly Dench CEO of RUNWAY Magazine  to model the creative gothic fashions of LaPointe & Bastchild. I was hired through my modeling agency MAD Agency Modeling along with my partner for the modeling shoot the beautiful EMMz Tzara. Photographer for the shoot was Vera Canning one of SL most noted photographers. She makes any picture come alive with her majestic play on light and shadow, and her great choice of locations also add to the theatrical aura within the pictures. The modeling session was such a great day and Vera Canning made the job of posing such fun I have never had such a great time modeling. This all added to the finished article the photos were amazing and MOlly Dench was so overwhelmed by the quality of the pictures me and EMMz Tzara can be seen on the front cover of May’s edition of RUNWAY Magazine!!!

Sunday 04.05.08

Well my week was going so well everyday I was knocked back by more and more fantastic achievements within my world in SL. A world which I treasure so much for its forever changing user experiences within different sims and ways to make your life more fruitful by editing apperances and buying and designing clothes and fashion accessories. The limits to SL are endless and I try to use as much of what I can when I can. So I was amazed yet again when on Sunday 04.05.08 I found out that I won Ewing Fashion Agencies AltaModa Magazine Covergirl & Coverboy competition LOL Woooot!! OMG So when I got the IM from Una Ewing informing that I was the guy selected to appear on the front cover of AltaModa Magazine my face was a picture of excitment and amazement. I could not believe my luck what a fantastic week for Nicholai Shepherd.

I am to appear on the next issue of AltaModa Magazine along with Covergirl Haruka Kish a friend and fellow model/blogger @ FACES Modeling Agency. Our photographer was the fantastic Simone Alva who was a great guy and made my experience so much fun! Thank you Simone “Your The Man!” My clothes for the cover shot were a pair of beach short in aqua blue. Haruka also wore a swimsuit with a flower behind her ear as I believe the scene for the picture was dreamed up by Una Ewing from a music video scene by Gwen Stefani lol The background I did not see as we were shot in a studio location within a green room.

http://ewingfashionagency.wordpress.com/2008/04/20/the-altamoda-cover-model-search-is-over/

I would like to thank all agencies and companies for my awards this fantastic week in my world within SL I will remember the week of 28.04.08 - 04.05.08 for a very longtime to come !! :))
